Voor onze derde Day of Teaching with…. maakt Nancy McWilliams de oversteek van de VS  naar Vlaanderen. Dr McWilliams is een van de meest belangwekkende stemmen in de hedendaagse psychoanalyse en de psychoanalytische psychotherapie. Zij publiceert en doceert op vele terreinen, o.m. de relatie tussen psychodynamische diagnostiek en behandeling, case formulation, supervisie, de psychoanalytische behandeling van diverse klinische populaties. Als spreekster hecht zij er belang aan de toehoorder iets te bieden met directe klinische relevantie en toepasbaarheid. En dat is waar de VVPT in deze reeks naar op zoek is. We geven haar dan ook de hele dag de ruimte om ons kennis te laten maken met aspecten van haar visie en haar werk.

Dr McWilliams zal vertrekken vanuit een uiteenzetting van haar visie en praktijk op het gebied van psychodynamische diagnostiek en case formulation. Zij werkte in verschillende publicaties op dit terrein een indrukwekkend alternatief uit voor de DSM dat recht doet aan de complexiteit van het subject en daadwerkelijke psychotherapeutische houvast biedt. Met klinische voorbeelden zal zij demonstreren hoe van hieruit het behandelproces en de therapeutische relatie gericht en verdiept kunnen worden. 

Het wordt een dag met een afwisseling van theorie en praktijk, diagnostiek en behandeling, uiteenzetting, illustratie en dialoog. De spreekster werkt voornamelijk met volwassenen maar zal, onder meer vanuit haar ervaring in psychoanalytische supervisie op dit terrein, uitstapjes maken naar het werk met een jongere populatie. 

De dag zal volledig in het Engels verlopen.

Dr. Nancy McWilliams teaches at Rutgers University’s Graduate School of Applied & Professional Psychology and practices in Lambertville, New Jersey. She is author of Psychoanalytic Diagnosis (1994, rev. ed. 2011), Psychoanalytic Case Formulation (1999), and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (2004) and is associate editor of both editions of the Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual (2006, 2017). A former president of Division 39 (Psychoanalysis) of the American Psychological Association, she has been featured in three APA videos of master clinicians. She is on the Board of Trustees of the Austen Riggs Center. Her books are available in 20 languages; she lectures widely both nationally and internationally.

Prof. dr. Patrick Luyten is als hoogleraar verbonden aan de Onderzoekseenheid Klinische Psychologie van de K.U.Leuven en het Research Department of Clinical, Educational, and Health Psychology, University College London (UK). Zijn meest recente boek, Handbook of Psychodynamic Approaches, publiceerde hij samen met Linda Mayes, Peter Fonagy, Mary Target en Sidney Blatt bij the Guilford Press. Het ontving de 2015 Goethe Award for Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Scholarship.

INSCHRIJVEN

We blijven op koers naar onze Day of Teaching with Nancy McWilliams.  De nieuwe datum werd vastgelegd op vrijdag 11 maart 2022. De aanhoudende corona epidemie maakt echter dat we noodgedwongen enkele aanpassingen moeten doorvoeren. Deze aanpassingen zijn gebaseerd op de actuele stand van zaken rond covid-19.  Onder voorbehoud van wijzigingen kan deze studiedag nog steeds live doorgaan in het UPC Kortenberg, echter met een beperkt aantal deelnemers en binnen de huidige maatregelen zoals het voorleggen van een Covid Safe Ticket, het dragen van een mondmasker en voldoende afstand.

Anderzijds zal eveneens de mogelijkheid bestaan om online deel te nemen aan deze studiedag via livestreaming.

We hopen natuurlijk zoveel mogelijk collega's terug live te kunnen ontmoeten op deze dag.

Indien de corona situatie toch zou verslechteren en we zouden gedwongen worden om opnieuw uit te stellen, krijgt u vanzelfsprekend uw inschrijvingsgeld terug gestort.

For our third “Day of Teaching with....”, Nancy McWilliams will cross over from the United States to Belgium. Dr McWilliams is one of the most significant voices in contemporary psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. She publishes and teaches in many areas, including subjects like the relationship between psychodynamic diagnosis and treatment, case formulation, supervision, and the psychoanalytic treatment of diverse clinical populations. As a speaker, she attaches importance to offering the listener something with direct clinical relevance and applicability. And that is what the VVPT is looking for in this series. We will therefore be giving her the space throughout the day to introduce us to aspects of her vision and her work.

Dr McWilliams will start by explaining her vision and practice in the field of psychodynamic diagnostics and case formulation. In various publications covering this field, she has developed an impressive alternative to the DSM that does justice to the complexity of the subject and offers real psychotherapeutic support. With clinical examples, she will demonstrate how the treatment process and the therapeutic relationship can be directed and deepened from here. 

The day will alternate between theory and practice, diagnosis and treatment, explanation, illustration and dialogue. The speaker works mainly with adults but will, based on her experience in psychoanalytic supervision in this field, make excursions to work with a younger population.
